Inspectors frequently face the problem of having to retrieve loose foreign objects such as rivets, screws or scraps of metal from difficult to reach areas inside a structure. When aircraft structural repairs are made, foreign objects such as metal shavings may fall into areas that cannot be accessed without costly tear down. Depending on their position, these could cause an obstruction or become a safety hazard.
Olympus Industrial retrieval tools are specifically designed for industrial use and are available with either a 1.5mm (0.059”) or 2.8mm (0.110”) outer diameter. The 1.5mm (0.059”) versions are used through the working channel of a special videoscope, rigid borescope or fiberscope. The 2.8mm (0.110”) versions utilize a 5.0mm (0.196”) outer diameter external working channel that can be fitted to any Olympus fiberscope or videoscope of 6mm (0.236”) or larger diameter. Working lengths of up to 7.5m (24.66ft) can be accommodated.
